From a small mintage of just 470 pieces with only 5 finer with no COMP or auction records, a CIVIL War Issue, graded PR66+ CAMEO PCGS CAC and with 10/10 color from a CAMEO designated grade, we expect multiple orders on this. Fortunately we have this 1864 3CS and its sister 1870 3CS PR66 CAM PCGS CAC. Since we have no auction reference aside from a PCGS Price Guide of ,750, which is
out-dated
, and pop resubmissions, at the base grade PR66CAM, there are 3 comps, 1 toned example non-
cac
for ,281 and one non-toned non-plus
cac
a decade ago. Another relevant reference is an 1862 3CS PR66+ CAM PCGS CAC for ,338 07/20 LE as a date with similar mintage but that example had minimal toning. We see no reason why this example shouldn't out sell that. These are much tougher than commonly known especially when finding them un-dipped and with eye appeal such as these. This should fit nicely into a great 3CS set, toned collection or to an investor.
